A new treatment, in Asia,  combining both heat and pressure is being applied to some sapphires.  This is quite different then other previous treatments.   This treatment does improve color and clarity.  At Gems by Gregory we never send any sapphire rough (or any other rough) out of the United States for cutting or any treatments.  This insures our customers of 100% provenance of all our Rock Creek, Montana sapphires including the origin, where it was cut (only in America’s Historic Triangle in Virginia), and if it underwent any heat treating which would, if performed, only be done in Montana.  Thus all aspects of the process of a sapphire’s journey from the mine, to heating, to cutting only in Virginia by Greg Russell, to our valued customers is closely monitored and controlled.
